Stop the Insanity

Just needed to take a second and clear a few things up for the Gonzo faithful out there. We've gotten a few questions from you guys, and that is cool cause it means there are people actually reading this gibberish.

Gonzo Guide Green Bay is not going anywhere. It will continue to function as a beacon of information on Green Bay's restaurant, entertainment, and sarcastic editorial tip.

It is The Gonzo Group.com that has been shut down. This was the site we created as a centralized location for what was to become a business venture building on the Gonzo brand. Alas, the site URL was too close to a skeezy orgy porn site called Group Gonzo, so I went back to the old faithful, IdeaFields.com. Luckily no cease and desist orders were provided, I just thought that might be bad for business for someone to be looking for us and end up staring at a plethora of balls and snausages.

IdeaFields.com will serve as the site dedicated to marketing our services in the social adworking space, and will serve as our main internet presence. Ideafields-The Blog is our business blog where we intend to discuss what we are up to with our clients and provide shameless plugs for them. Gonzo Guide Green Bay is our fun loving off the cuff, write whatever we want kind of blog.

Beyond that, we do have a Facebook page for IdeaFields. Even though we haven't written anything there yet, it would be cool to get a few fans out there so that when we do start working with businesses we can actually say we have fans. The same goes for our Twitter page, and for IdeaFields-The Blog.

All y'all gotsta know I appreciate it. I think we have a pretty cool thing going in our IdeaFields concept and it sounds like we might be getting some pretty solid talent on board in some capacity to help us build this thing. It will be cool to see where it goes from here.

The Gonzo Group Has Been Laid to Rest

It is a sad day indeed, when you must take down a legitimate website due to the fact that the web address is too close to that of an orgy focused porn site.

thegonzogroup.com is now http://www.ideafields.com/.

The Gonzo Group - Social Adworking...Gonzo Style

So using creativity and this putrid economy as fuel I decided it was high time that we branch out a little. Gonzo Guide Green Bay has been going strong for several months now, and over the course of that time we have written many excellent pieces (if I may say so) ranging from a break up letter to Brett Favre, to a discussion on health care reform. But through those editorials, our focus has always remained on spotlighting some of the great small business and restaurants that have taken root in the Green Bay area.

With that in mind, I got to thinking. There is so much by the way of new media out there that local companies could use to advertise and market themselves. Yet given all of the new availabilities, it seems very few businesses in our area are taking advantage of them.

Facebook and Twitter are more than just sites for frat boys and dorm rats. In fact if you take a look at the user base of these two sites, you might be as amazed as I was. The Tweeners make up for only about 10% of the user base. Huh? Well yeah, and that leaves a much larger demographic out there full of adult users. And even in this sheeeit hole economy, adults typically have more disposable income than college and high school kids...typically.

So why does this matter? It means that 90% of the Facebook and Twitter users are adults. To understand the gravity of that number also consider Facebook increases it's user base by 200,000 new profiles per DAY! Are you f-ing kidding me? This place is an Internet marketing gold mine...if done right.

So back to my initial point of branching out the Gonzo Guide. Again our goal was to spotlight local Green Bay and Valley businesses using our blog...but what if we could do more. What if we could help these companies tap into the marketing gold mine that is Facebook and Twitter? Help me...help you.

Domino Amigo, that is exactly what we plan to do. We plan to help companies understand the social networking world, and specifically how they might use these spaces for marketing purposes. I'm sure some technogeek out in CA has already coined this, but I call it Social Adworking. An art more than a science, this capitalizes on the instant communication, and people's wanton desire to belong to a greater group by blending the social networking with marketing.

Since the attention span of most individuals now is limited to 140 characters, I will curtail my Gonzo Takes Over the World speech. What I ask is that in the free time you may or may not have, you check out the newest member of the Gonzo family...affectionately called The Gonzo Group, and let me know what you think. Please keep an objective eye when viewing this, and ponder content more than appearance as I don't do code and I'm not totally finished yet. Although it would be nice to have some feedback on site appearance too.

Thanks to all you believers out there in Gonzo Nation. Hugs and sloppy kisses all around for your continued support.

Cy's Asian Bistro...Come Feel the Fury of the Curry

You guys, in all sincerity, this restaurant has some of the most amazing Asian food I have tasted in a long time. And the individual the restaurant is named for cooks up more than just great food. He's serving up a humble hospitality that truly makes you feel like you are a guest in his house, and that he is cooking especially for you.

Asian Bistro...ok, what does that mean exactly. And this was just what I was asking myself as I walked in. I was desperately hoping for less of the more widely known "Asian" food, and more for something different. And different was what I got.

Fusion Curry, 'cause I'm a Sally, and I will start sweating at the table with even a hit of spice. According to my compatriots this was a middle of the road dish and a good introduction to the curry fury that Cy's can bring. A chicken in a fine curry sauce accompanied with a cup of rice was what I was served. Looked pretty simple, but the taste was very different than I expected even though I know the heat curry can bring. You still taste it, but the combination of all of the non-traditional spices really made this outwardly simple dish one to rave about. Add a little of the Thai pepper oil sauce for an extra kick. For lunch this places kicks the crap out of any burger/wrap/soggy chicken you get for the same price at Pick-a-Chain.

The restaurant was clean, and very crowded which are both good signs. People who wanted to see people and people who wanted to be seen, were eating here. Not bad for Neenah, WI.

Here's the nuts out truth. You can get good food at some places. You can get great food at a few places, but rarely is it that you get excellent hospitality and a new adventurous fabulous tasting dish in the same experience.

Cy delivers. He is proud of his culinary offerings, and proud of his home. We ought to be thankful he chooses to invite us in on a regular basis to eat at his tables, and that he makes us feel like special guests no matter what day, week, or month we choose to stop by.

If it weren't for my fellow companions making the recommendation I may not have ever found this place, but I am certainly happy I did, and when I am in the area this is where I will hoist my fork.

Don't Be A Cell Phone Dork - Check Out These Two Sites For Your Next Piece Of Ear Bling

Yup, I picked up some new ear bling yesterday. Got it in the mail. For free!

Esmerelda Gonzo - Gonzo Researcher Extraordinaire, was kind enough to clue me in to a few sites where you can get some sweet deals on a new cell phone. Forget the mall kiosk jockey. Forget the overpriced retail carrier store. These sites allow you start fresh with a new carrier assuming you want to switch, or re-up with your current provider, which is what I did.

For me Verizon has worked very well in providing voice and data services. Hi my name is Gomez Gonzo and I am a Crackberry addict. Very few dropped calls, and solid 3G Internet capability.

So, my two year contract was up with them, and since I am a loyal customer of Verizon's there was no way I was going to change providers. But the jackals wanted to charge me $200 bones for some new ear gear. No way said I.

So after much whining to Esmerelda, she decided ever so kindly that she would take it upon herself to see if there was an answer to my problem...low and behold, she presented wirefly.com, and letstalk.com as possible solutions.

Assuming your current contract is up, or you are up for an upgrade, these are two good places to check for cell phones. They work through all of the major providers: Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and so on.

Letstalk.com was the source I went through. I picked up a new Blackberry Tour for free, and all I had to do was re-up with Verizon for another two years. Great.

Whether you call Letstalk or go through the net, the service was fantastic. When I talked with them about some questions I had I was speaking to a woman in Texas...Texas is not India. And she was very helpful.

My service is still stellar, my new phone was free (the Verizon store wanted to charge me $199), and I am a happy consumer.

Purple People Greeters

Tuesday August 18th, 2009 will be a date easily forgotten. But the events that transpired on this darkest day in Cheese Land will forever bitter the cheddar and pepper jack that accompany our beer soaked brats.

The rumor mill turned ever so gently on Twitter and ESPN. But mostly it was the local Minnesota media that pushed the story. A plane left Hattiesburg carrying some luggage, staff, Brett Favre and a Vikings logo.

Mere hours after landing, Favre was in a familiar red #4 jersey, only to be topped by a purple helmet. The sight of this was enough to make the average Packer fan puke.

Most people I heard on talk radio wanted Favre to fail miserably and some extremists even wanted him to be injured.

We may never know the whole truth about what happened when Favre announced his retirement from the Packers. So lets think about this instead of jump onto the Hate Favre Bandwagon.

The Packers have Favre to thank for carrying the team some 16 years. He is the reason we obtained Reggie White and won a Super Bowl. He is the reason a small market city has been able to keep one of the most beloved football teams in the country. He is the reason for pretty much every positive thing that has happened to the Packers. If he still thinks he can play, no matter where that is, we shouldn’t take it as a slap in the face.

This season the Packers will again have Aaron Rodgers behind center. He was a solid starter through all of last year, even playing through a shoulder injury. Maybe he did learn something from his predecessor?

I am not happy that Favre is a Viking. But in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn’t matter.

Please repeat after me:
“I am not mad at Brett Favre. I will applaud his announcement on Sunday November 1st, 2009 at Lambeau Field when the Packers face the Vikings as a Thank You for all that he did for this franchise and this city. This is the Packer way.”

Chefusion - Their Culinary Magic is No Illusion

The Culinary Magic that comes from this place
is a well thought out blend of menu, service, and taste.

Chefusion is our subject, you silly blog reader
and I will tell you one thing: I'm a tough to please eater.

Here when I visit, comes sweet hunger relief
either with a Penne Pasta Bowl or the burger of Kobe beef.

Much beyond that, the menu is chalk full of choices
from the Ultimate Crab Cake to desserts that are moist-ist.

And the decor; what a place, I really must say
Their style is cool in a very simple way.

As far as the fee to eat such a meal,
take it from me, you get a pretty good deal.

I know it was just lunches and not the full on dinner
but either way you slice it Chefusion's a winner.
